We have been a regular participant in the Art Trail for the last 8 years and we are very excited that we can now open again this year to show you some wonderful art. There’s something for everyone whether you like paintings, drawings, textile arts, mixed media, prints, stained glass or art made with recycled marine waste. Or just come and chill out in the garden.

Combine a visit with Inside Outside at 71 Old Shoreham Road and Krysia and Friends at 178 Old Shoreham Road.

Naomi Frances

I am an artist and educator and I’ve been working with glass for over 25 years and I still love the way that light through glass can bring such joy. Living between the sea and the downs is endlessly inspiring, and most of my work is about the natural world and the animals and birds that live in it. It’s nature, but hyper real in colour and texture.

Jen Green

Linocuts, collagraphs and watercolours I’m a Sussex-based artist who makes paintings, prints and also woodcarvings. My work is inspired by the beautiful South Downs and also by my travels.
I’ve been making linocuts for years, but have only recently started making collagraphs. These prints involve many stages, and I’ve still got a lot to learn! My prints come in small limited editions, and no two are exactly alike.

‘Artist, illustrator, marine biologist, loudmouth. Mostly making art between midnight and 4am when the kids are asleep.

At 79 Old Shoreham Road you can see my ‘Upcycled Oceans’ – mixed media canvases with upcycled marine plastic pollution found on local beaches. I’ll also have some limited edition prints of my illustrations, and lots of lovely sustainable, recyclable, plastic-free greetings cards – proceeds support marine conservation.’

Hattie Lockhart Smith

Working in a colourful palette, combining monoprint, acrylic painting techniques and collage Hattie creates multi layered abstract work. Inspired by people in her life Hattie captures the many facets that humans choose to reveal or keep hidden.
Having taught art and craft for many years, lockdown and working from home gave Hattie the opportunity to revisit and explore her own practice discovering new techniques which has led to a completely new way of working which Hattie is still developing and enjoying every moment!
